Whats New

Find JoAnn Pippin's Paintings on Exhibit

Here in "Whats New" you will find a schedule of shows and exhibits, and a list of galleries currently exhibiting my paintings.

Check "What's New" quarterly; shows and some galleries are seasonal, so there can be many changes to my schedule. Or, I may be on the road, finding new places or revisiting favorite places to gather ideas for things to paint.

WHATS NEW--CURRENT EXHIBITS

MWVAA FRESH PAINT ART AUCTION
My painting "Hikers Gathering" will be offered at the Mt. Washington Valley "Fresh Paint" Auction on August First.  This is a juried show, and part of the proceeds from this exciting event will go to support the Arts Association.  The theme for the show is "Scenes of Summer."  On the same evening, there will be a silent auction, and it will include a framed reproduction of one of my works.  For further information, call the MWAA at 603-356-ARTS, or link to www.MWVArts.org.  This is a good opportunity to see contemporary New England art at its finest.

ARTISTS IN THE BARN Exhibit at the New London Hospital

The New London Hospital will feature a show of original paintings by the Eastman Artists in the Barn, a group that I regularly paint with.  There are some talented artists in this group, so it will be worth seeing their works either at the opening reception or if you are a patron of the hospital.

Some of my Lake Sunapee boathouse paintings as well as a poster with reproductions of the entire series will be featured at this show.  I will also be exhibiting many of my other New Hampshire landscapes.

Contact the Hospital at 603-526-2911 for further information.

EXHIBIT AT THE QUECHEE INN AT MARSHLAND FARM
The Artists in the Barn will also be exhibiting at the Quechee Inn in late October through December 3.  I am planning to hang several of my winter theme paintings at that exhibit.

The Inn has a charming breakfast room and a cozy living room where our paintings will be exhibited.  We enjoy eating dinner there on the day of the wine and cheese reception, and you might also want to that when you go to see the show!

WHATS NEW--CLASSES

Beginning August 2 I will be teaching a class on using color effectively in watercolor at the Library Arts Center in Newport, NH.  This class will be for watercolorists with some experience who would like an understanding of color concepts to liven up their works.  There are 2 sessions of this class.  Session I is on Sunday, August 2, from 12:30 to 4:30 PM, and the second session is at the same time on the following Sunday.  The Newport studio is an attractive facility, and I am excited about teaching there. WHATS NEW--THOUGHTS

Since painting a small scene from a climb to the top of Kearsarge Mountain in nearby Warner, I have had it in the back of my head that I would like to do a series called "At the Top."  It is always so rewarding when you get to the bare granite areas on top of our New England mountains--there is a wonderful birdseye view of lakes, mountain ranges, forest, and maybe even the sea.  That vastness that makes you feel small, and also the enjoyment of hikers in the culmination of the effort will be what I want to express in this series of paintings.

So watch for them--some should begin to appear on my website soon!
